Last week, members of the New York Chapter took a private tour of the Kravet fabric studios here in New York City.  It was an
exclusive event where we were able to witness textile creativity in the making at its best and most exciting. Highlights of the tour include these new developments --

 1. Big surprises at Brunschwig & Fils with a collection moving  into a more exotic new look in richly deep colors and an abundance of sumptuous beading and embroideries.

2. A revival of large scale “Indiennes” –prints first created by the French after imports from India and the Spice Route reached the West.
“Worn” velvets, yarn dyed and stried add unexpected patina.

3. Kelly Wearstler, the British designer and one of Kravet’s star licensees, preparing a 5th collection of neutral textiles, focused on textures of the natural world. Stunning new furniture finishes, among them a slate gray and a nude lacquer are stand-outs soon to be featured throughout Kravet’s showroom universe.

4. Aerin Lauder, Lilly Pulitzer, Jan Showers and Echo are other brands in the works by a company whose creativity seems without bounds.

5. Barbara Barry, another high performing designer at this reading introduces her latest “Chalet” collection in Kravet Couture. Rendered in the soft colors of Edelweiss, alpine streams and winter grays, her subdued palette expresses the natural beauty evocative of the mountains.

3 Fabulous Events where IFDA NY members were out & about in the Big Apple!

 Happy Holidays
from the IFDA NY Chapter!
With the fall season coming to a quick close and the busy new year ahead, let's look back at some of the ways the IFDA NY Chapter members continue to keep their fingers on the pulse of design in New York City.  We recently showed you a sample of industry events our members participated in, and now let's highlight three more where IFDA NY chapter members were in attendance...

"Our Favorite Things"
We are happy to note that former
IFDA NY Rising Stars were a part of this design celebration at 200 Lexington Avenue.

Lois DelNegro of Global Views and
Nicki Clendening of Scout Design, (another former
Rising Stars Honoree) were in attendance.
2. We also stopped into the annual Art of The Table sponsored by Bilotta Kitchen, Traditional Home and Lenox to check out kitchen displays stylized by four area interior designers utilizing Lenox patterns on the tables.
(above) IFDA members Barbara Haberman, Lisa McMahon and Tamara Stephenson spent time in Tamara's kitchen where she showed DKNY's everyday patterns for Lenox.

Interior designers who participated in this year's Art of The Table include Robert Passal, James Rixner,
David Scott & Tamara Stephenson.
3. We kicked off the fall season with an important evening generously hosted by Axor Showroom to thank those involved in last spring's charity event, Take A Seat.  Craftily called Take A Bow the evening was a celebration where we also presented a check to Habitat for Humanity NY.  These were proceeds raised during last spring's chair charity auction hosted at Room and Board showroom with media sponsor NYC&G magazine.  We also Skyped with other chapters around the nation as they prepared to host their own Take A Seat auction.  Additionally, during Take A Bow we raised more funds for Habitat NYC with a lively Chinese auction.
Later in the fall, we planned and celebrated a well attended and successful Rising Stars event where we honored talents in the industry, and generously hosted at the Kravet showroom in the D&D building.  This evening is worthy of it's very own story, so please stop back for a recap soon.

We wish you a
healthy & happy holiday season!

New York City infused with spring freshness, beginning with the Architectural Digest Home Show

Spring has sprung
in New York City...
We have lots on our design agenda this spring,
and the AD Home Show
rings in the season each year here in New York City.  First, IFDA NY chapter members stop in this past weekend, soaking up the inspirational tabletop design at the adjoining Diffa's Dining by Design event.
In case you missed it, there were plenty of creative tables with designers and brands joining forces showing us tabletop fodder.
Check out a few of our favorites...

the moody, sultry space and table from Arteriors Home illustrated a creative use of black walls, gold and nature-inspired design.  With these signature pieces combined, the result was glamorous.
Arterior's Zanadoo light
Diane Von Furstenberg for Kravet fabric
showcased a unique mixing of color and patterns.  We all agreed we'd love to join the party and dine al fresco
at this celebratory table.

Another favorite was the beautiful homage paid by Kara Mann to Maya Romanoff.  With the recent passing of Romanoff, the space was beautifully put together capturing his talent and aesthetic while showcasing his gorgeous textiles, some of which were pulled from the archives.
Additionally, there were lovely wares over at the AD Home show, and while we were on the look-out for the latest, we popped into see IFDA friend, Wild Chairy's booth in the MADE section of the AD show (you may remember Andrea Mahalik of Wild Chairy designed a chair for last year's first annual IFDA Take A Seat chair charity auction).

speaking of chairs,
please stop back soon for details about our
2nd annual Take A Seat chair charity auction.  In the meantime, mark May 14 on your spring calendar for our evening gala and auction, which promises to be spectacular this year.  We are busy bees planning the details but please note, NYC&G magazine is our media sponsor, Habitat for Humanity is our chosen charity, fabulous designer Libby Langdon our MC, and all hosted at the Room and Board showroom in their swanky Soho digs, stay tuned for more details here on the blog.

for a recap of a recent informative talk given by the Antiques Diva to IFDA NY members
about the Paris Flea Market!
