IFDA NY and Designer Lighting Forum (DLF) event at Hafele Showroom was enlightening and educating about new technologies in lighting

If you missed the recent IFDA/DLF event,
you missed out! But, no worries we have the details to bring you regarding last week's lighting workshop at the Hafele Showroom called
The Illuminating Residential Projects II
The Designer Lighting Forum of NY (DLFNY) hosted this event and workshop at the Hafele Showroom on 26th Street in New York City, and an impressive crowd turned out.  The event catered to residential designers, and served to educate those in the industry on the basics of lighting design, including color temperature, color-rendering index (CRI), lumens, heat output, line vs. low voltage, and other key considerations for understanding lighting design as it relates to interior design. Please check out the conversations over on social media by following the conversations using hashtag

Lead by experts in the industry, the professionals worked in small groups with attendees to explore different light sources and how they interact with common household materials. Hands-on experience with the different lamps (LED, incandescent, and halogen) made it easy to assimilate the technical differences between each light source.

We learned that the Philips bulb is an impressive LED replacement bulb for incandescent lights.  It's clear, cool and dims warm like a much loved incandescent.

See what a few who attended the workshop
had to say about the experience...

"I took a series of lighting classes with my degree but in my experience no one has ever made understanding photometrics so easy.  Beyond that, I learned much about LED lighting - what to look for and what to be wary of when specifying products.  The DLF Hafele event wasn't just about information sharing, it was about empowering people to use it!"
-Andrea Brodfuehrer,
Principal von b interiors, Inc.
IFDA NY Chapter President
"This was a MUST SEE for any and all interior designers needing a bit of guidance and understanding of emerging lighting trends, technological innovations, and product development."
-Principal interior designer Charles Pavarini III
"We are entering a stage in lighting design where every designer who specifies lighting will need to be well versed in the three C's of light: Color, Control and Consistency of light quality.  I think the DLF event at Hafele was a great start to help people understand the C's and hopefully attendees walked away with an increased comfort with the technology."

  1. I really enjoyed this place and you can definitely find me here for more events. I didn't eat anything when on my best new year eve party nyc, but those around me had truffle fries, pizza, and wings all seemed to enjoy.
