IFDA NY Chapter member, Jamie Drake has been a great support to the IFDA NY Chapter over the years, and we continue to be his fan.  We are lucky to have gotten a sneak preview of Drake's designs at the
Designer Visions Showhouse where he brings his sophisticated sense of color and combining for House Beautiful magazine in this lovely, historic Art Deco building, Walker Tower in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.  The home is a homage to color, Art Deco sensibilities, and yet it feels fresh and new.  These pink colored walls are pure perfection, and Benjamin Moore's paint sets the tone for an elegant, sophisticated interior.
Jamie Drake’s muse for the design is a “Client” who works at a major fashion magazine.  She is edgy, elegant and exudes a timeless sensibility.  She is the granddaughter of the entertainer, Josephine Baker, and loves to entertain at home with her daughter.

House Beautiful is known for profiling designers with a great sense of color, and it is no surprise they invited Drake and his team to design this apartment.

We have an even deeper respect for Drake after taking note that he allows his design team to shine, giving them creative license and crediting them for their work.

  1. Great post and terrific blog! I have just been appointed VP of Communications for the Florida Chapter. I am going to be writing posts for our blog on our website. While I have been a blogger for 3 years with my own blog www.decordreamsandschemes.com , this is the first time I will be writing for an organization. I see you write mostly about the events your chapter holds or attends which is great. I was wondering what you might think about also including topics on our industry that would encourage discussion. That way we could start a dialogue among our members, Also do your chapter members get emails when you publish a new post? I guess what I am asking for your input. Should a chapter blog mainly be a way to share about events or a place to share information and experiences, offer support and bring up topics of mutual interest for discussion?
Any help you can give me would be fantastic. Feel free to email me at pictureprettyint@aol.com
    Thanks so much, Marsha Koch
