You are invited IFDA's 7th Annual

RISING STARS OF DESIGN 2013

This year, we will honor four Rising Stars of interior and  product design! To recognize the mission and diverse membership of the IFDA, this is the first time we are honoring a product designer! We will celebrate the unique perspectives on interiors offered by these up-and-coming designers with interior designer and IFDA member Amanda Nisbet as MC!
Since its beginning in 1998, Amanda Nisbet Design has become one of New York's most distinctive, sought-after creators of refreshing, abundant elegance. AND projects have been showcased in numerous publications, among them Coastal LivingHouse BeautifulOprah at HomeTraditional Home,Veranda, and The New York Times, amongst others. Her first book, Dazzling Design, was published in 2012.
Interior Design Honorees:
Madcap Cottage
John Loecke & Jason Oliver Nixon

John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon
are the dynamic duo behind the New York- and North Carolina-based interior design firm Madcap Cottage.
Known for their whimsical use of color and pattern, the Madcap gents scour the world for eclectic finds that capture their unique and gimlet-eyed view of the world.

Dineen Architecture
Joan Dineen & Alyson Liss-Pobiner

(Joan Dineen thought she was going to be an Astronaut, got an Engineering degree at Cornell, an Architecture Degree at Columbia, and now regularly scares clients by attaching too much importance to the scale of pillows. She worked at IM Pei and Partners right out of school before starting her own solo.  In her practice, from the beginning, she found it impossible to think of spaces without thinking of their color, texture and furnishings.
Alyson Liss-Pobiner, a native New Yorker, received her Architecture degree from Cornell, complementing it  shortly after with a graduate degree in the HIstory, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture and Art from MIT> She then worked as a research fellow in the SENSEable City Laboratory at MIT, followed by a semester assisting the Chari fo the Architecture and Design Curatorial Department at the MoMA. It wasn't until Alyson joined Dineen Architecture + Design that she found a place to combine her talents for design, her eye for beauty, and her rigor for research to create and curate beautiful, comfortable, and joyous spaces. )

Mr Call Designs
Jon Call

Jon Call studied architecture in Seattle at Cornish College of the Arts before moving to New York to work for Diamond Baratta, where he was immersed in their world of vivid color, custom furniture, and storied tradition. After that, he worked for Shawn Henderson, another young designer, before striking out on his own in 2010. The name of the firm, a somewhat cheeky reference to the days when designers were known by Mr. or Mrs., embodies Call's spirit: he winks, rather than nods, at the past.

Product Design Honoree:
Apparatus
Gabriel Hendifar & Jeremy Anderson

Born from playful experimentation with vintage lighting components, Apparatus is a collection of lighting fixtures created by designer Gabriel Hendifar and partner Jeremy Anderson. Creative Director Hendifar formed his interdisciplinary approach to design from studying costume and scenic design at UCLA, later designing for couture label Jmary and most recently as part of the Raquel Allergra creative team. Having consulted for such firms as Ogilvy, LVMH, and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Anderson left his career in PR to oversee Aparatus studio production and operations.

Special thanks to Christopher Guy for hosting us in their beautiful new showroom at NYDC!

We look forward to seeing you on the evening of November 19th to celebrate the talents of these blossoming designers!
