We like to boast about our members and their accomplishments, so allow us to gush for a moment about this young talent and fairly new member of the IFDA NY chapter. Catarine Wright is the current Student Liaison of IFDA, and also works as a Principal Designer at James Rixner Inc. Since she moved to NYC from Brazil, she has had myriad experiences--including wedding and event planning, working at the New York Design Center, mentoring under design expert Larry Weinberg, and volunteering at industry shows such as Kips Bay and Holiday House. She even pens her own blog, WrightsDesign which has reached more than 20,000 readers recently. But, the recent feather in her cap, acting as a student liason with the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, showcases her talent in a lovely frame.
Ronald McDonald's Design Project 2014 was a generous and inspiring transformation by some of the area's most notable designers, and all to help support family's of children traveling from all over the world and treated at the nearby hospital. Catarine was one of six students enlisted by The New York School of Interior Design to create a one-of-a-kind space for guests of the house. The team created a safe haven for its residents, removing 90 degree angles, softening the room and inviting guests to relax and feel safe. Wood wraps around the room forming built-ins while providing warmth and texture. Custom artwork includes a three dimensional whimsical mural. The overall design acts as an inviting respite to guests who are dealing with stressful and traumatic issues.
